beauty is pain. unfortunately, so is the price.
the royal treatment ♡ entry no. 004
apparently, looking expensive is an expensive hobby.
i have a confession to make.
i have absolutely no intention of becoming a low maintenance woman.
not because i have anything against them. in fact, i admire anyone who can roll out of bed, brush their hair, throw on an outfit, and look effortlessly beautiful.
personally, i require a little more production.
and by a little, i mean an entire beauty department.
there’s something deeply satisfying about freshly done nails, perfectly styled hair, a flawless makeup routine, and an outfit that makes you feel like you should be photographed getting out of a very expensive car.
the problem?
apparently, all of these things cost money.
a LOT of money.
and whoever decided that looking pretty should come with the financial responsibilities of maintaining a small corporation deserves a strongly worded letter.
let’s discuss nails.
why is it that something as simple as wanting ten beautifully decorated fingers can suddenly become a significant financial decision?
and don’t even get me started on hair.
the products. the appointments. the tools. the occasional emotional breakdown when absolutely none of them work.
i would also like to know why my hair requires an entire collection of products just to decide whether it feels like cooperating.
and then there’s makeup.
oh, makeup.
the foundation, concealer, blush, powder, lip products, brushes, and approximately seventeen other things that somehow become essential the moment you step into a beauty store.
you go in for one thing.
ONE.
and suddenly you’re standing at the register reconsidering every financial decision you’ve ever made.
but here’s the thing.
i don’t think enjoying beauty makes someone shallow. i don’t think loving pretty things makes you materialistic. and i certainly don’t think a woman should have to apologize for putting effort into her appearance.
some people collect sneakers. some people love expensive cars. some people spend an alarming amount of money on coffee.
i happen to enjoy the finer things in life.
preferably in a very pretty shade of pink.
of course, there’s a slight complication.
my taste and my bank account are not currently on speaking terms.
one of them believes we’re living a life of luxury.
the other would appreciate it if we stopped browsing things we have absolutely no business purchasing.
it’s a difficult relationship.
but until someone decides to sponsor my beauty routine, i’ll continue doing what any reasonable person would do.
admiring expensive things, finding cheaper alternatives, and occasionally convincing myself that a purchase is an investment in my personal happiness.
because beauty may be pain.
but honey, have you SEEN the prices?
xoxo,
the princess ♡
