the girl who allegedly cursed me?

entry no. 003 ♡

some friendships end in tears. mine apparently ended in witchcraft.

i’ve had my fair share of friendship drama, but i think we can all agree that being allegedly cursed by your former best friend is a rather unusual way to end a friendship.

especially in MIDDLE SCHOOL.

yes, middle school. the place where our biggest concerns should’ve been bad eyebrows, questionable outfits, and whether the boy sitting across from us in math class liked us back.

but apparently, i had bigger problems.

let me explain.

once upon a time, i had a best friend. we were incredibly close, practically inseparable, and everything was perfectly normal. well, as normal as middle school friendships can be.

eventually, we became friends with another girl, and she and i got particularly close. we started spending more time together, and somewhere along the way, my original best friend and i simply drifted apart.

no dramatic confrontation. no screaming match in the hallway. no grand betrayal.

just two girls growing apart.

or so i thought.

because apparently, while i was busy enjoying my new friendship, there were rumors circulating that my former best friend had decided to take a slightly more… spiritual approach to the situation.

witchcraft.

yes. WITCHCRAFT.

now, before you start questioning my sanity, allow me to provide some context.

this girl had always been interested in spirituality and witchcraft. she’d talked about performing rituals involving other people and had even sent us snapchat videos.

personally, i never gave it much thought. my friend and i were both raised with strong religious beliefs, and the whole thing was so far outside our world that we didn’t take it seriously.

until our mutual friends started telling us she was allegedly wishing horrible things upon us.

lovely.

nothing says “i miss our friendship” quite like a rumored hex.

and then, naturally, everything started going wrong.

we started breaking out. random unfortunate things kept happening. we’d make plans, cancel them, and later hear that something bad had happened in the very place we’d planned to visit.

was any of this actually connected?

who knows.

could it have been puberty, bad luck, and a collection of very unfortunate coincidences?

absolutely.

but try explaining that to two middle school girls who had just been informed that their former friend was supposedly practicing witchcraft on them.

suddenly, every pimple felt personal.

and the strangest part?

we never confronted her.

we just continued living our lives while occasionally hearing another bizarre rumor through the middle school grapevine.

eventually, after a year or two, the stories stopped. the strange coincidences stopped feeling so constant. and the entire situation faded into one of those memories that sounds completely made up when you tell someone about it.

to this day, i have absolutely no idea what was true, what was exaggerated, or what was simply a bunch of dramatic teenagers connecting dots that probably had nothing to do with each other.

but i do know one thing.

if someone no longer wants to be my friend, i would personally prefer a passive aggressive instagram story.

perhaps an unfollow.

maybe even a strongly worded paragraph.

but an alleged CURSE?

honey, that seems a little excessive..

xoxo,
the princess ♡
